FLEISCHKIEKLA
6 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. milk
3 lbs. hamburger
1 c. finely diced onion
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. pepper

Mix flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and milk together. Let stand covered for 1 hour, while dough is standing mix hamburger, onions and rest of salt and pepper together.

Take a small portion of dough. Roll into a small ball (about the size of a golf ball). On a floured flat surface use a rolling pin to flatten dough about 1/2 inch thick! Take about 3 tablespoons of hamburger and place on 1/2 flattened dough. Wrap hamburger with remaining dough to form a half circle.

Cut off excess dough. Seal edges of dough by using finger tips. Deep fry in hot shortening at 350 degrees until golden brown on both sides. Proceed in same manner using remaining dough and hamburger mixture. Yields 25 to 30 fleischkiekla, depending on size. This served with a small salad makes a wonderful meal!
