EGGLESS, MILKLESS, BUTTERLESS CAKE | |
1 c. brown sugar 1 c. water 1/2 c. Crisco 1 c. raisins 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. nuts (optional) Preheat oven to 375°F. Boil together sugar, water, Crisco, raisins, nutmeg and cinnamon. Let cool, then add flour, soda, salt and powder (also nuts if you are using). Bake in square pan or bread pan 35 minutes. Used during the war when supplies were very limited. |
