CHIFFON CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. flour 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 3/4 c. granulated sugar 1/2 c. vegetable oil 6 egg yolks 3/4 c. water 1 tsp. vanilla 6 egg whites 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 3/4 c. granulated sugar Preheat oven to 350°F Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar together. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar to form soft peaks, then gradually beat in 3/4 cup sugar until very stiff. Add the two mixtures together and beat until smooth. Fold egg yolk mixture (egg yolks, water and vanilla) into meringue until blended. Turn into an ungreased 10 inch tube pan. Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 55 to 65 minutes. |
