OLD FASHIONED LEMON PIE 
1 1/2 c. water
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cornstarch
Dash salt
3 egg yolks, beaten
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. lemon juice
9 inch pie shell, baked

MERINGUE:

3 egg whites
1 tsp. lemon juice
6 tbsp. sugar

Combine water, sugar, cornstarch and salt in saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add a little sugar mixture to beaten egg yolks. Then add the egg mixture back into mixture in saucepan. Return to heat for 1 minute. Add butter and lemon juice slowly. Stir. Cool to lukewarm. Put into pie shell. Beat egg whites with lemon juice until they have soft peaks. Add sugar gradually. Continue beating until stiff. Spread over filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until a pretty brown.
