DANISH PASTRY APPLE SQUARES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. shortening (Crisco or Spry)
8-10 apples, sliced
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. corn flakes, crushed
1 egg yolk
Milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white

Mix flour and salt together. Cut in shortening. Mix egg yolk with enough milk to make 2/3 cup; add to flour mixture and mix well to make dough.

Roll 1/2 dough to fill pan (10 1/2" x 15"). Sprinkle crushed corn flakes over bottom of dough. Place apples over cereal; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll out remaining dough and place on top. Beat egg white and brush on top of crust.

Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes. When warm dribble frosting on top.

FROSTING: Mix 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar with 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and a little water.
