2 c. sugar
2 c. plain flour
1 (#2) can pineapple, undrained
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Put all ingredients into large mixing bowl and mix with wooden spoon. Pour into 9 x 13 inch greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until done.

FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 3/4 c. xxxx sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. pecans, chopped

Mix all ingredients and spread on cake while hot.

Polly Hill wanted to bake something different, so she went into her kitchen and gathered up the different ingredients and baked a delicious cake. Named the cake Wooden Spoon Cake because she used a wooden spoon to mix.
