BUTTERMILK PAN BISCUITS 
3 1/4 c. plus 2 tsp. flour
1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. solid shortening
1 1/2 c. buttermilk

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly grease 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. In large bowl, sift together the 3 1/4 cups flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly. Add buttermilk all at once. Mix just enough to be evenly mixed. Knead 3 or 4 times. Pat evenly into pan. Bake 35 minutes or until golden brown. Serves 9.
