ORANGE NUT BREAD 
2 1/4 c. flour
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 beaten egg
3/4 c. orange juice (fresh or frozen)
1/4 tsp. orange oil mixed with orange juice
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Sift all dry ingredients 3 times. Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add egg, beat until light. Add orange juice alternately with dry ingredients. Do not overbeat. Fold in nuts and turn into a greased glass loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Freezes well.

NOTE: To keep this bread moist, wrap while still warm and let stand overnight before cutting. Don't slice while still warm. Makes 1 loaf. Serve with cream cheese.
