MINTED MERINGUE TREES | |
2 egg whites 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract 1/4 tsp. green food coloring Grease cookie sheet, dust lightly with flour. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until foamy white and double. Beat in sugar 1 tablespoon at a time, beating constantly until sugar melts and egg whites are stiff, stir in extract and food coloring. Fit a star tip into pastry bag, spoon in meringue and press out on cookie sheet in a tree shape 1 inch apart, sprinkle with decorating candy. Bake slow 225 for 1 hour 15 minutes. |
