MACE CAKE | |
3 c. sifted flour 3 c. sugar 6 eggs, separated 1/2 tsp. mace 1 c. sour cream 1 c. butter (2 sticks) 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. baking soda Cream butter and sugar with mixer for 3 minutes. Add egg yolks, one at a time, and beat well after each. Sift flour twice and add soda; sift again. Add sour cream alternately with flour. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into batter. Add vanilla and mace. Bake in two loaf pans greased and lined with waxed paper. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes at 300 degrees. Allow 10 minutes before removing. Freezes well. |
