LOWELL INN CRESCENT ROLLS 
3/4 c. warm water
2 pkgs. active dry yeast
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

Mix warm water and yeast. Add sugar, shortening, salt and eggs. Start adding flour 1 cup at a time until sticky but workable. Cover with damp cloth and let rise until double, 2 to 3 hours. Divide in half and roll one into large circle. Cut into 12 even parts and roll inward to make crescents. Repeat with second half and cover with damp cloth to rise until double, 1 to 2 hours. Place on cookie sheets and cook 12 to 15 minutes (lightly brown) at 400°F.

Yield: 2 dozen rolls.
