6 WEEK BRAN MUFFINS 
2 c. boiling water
5 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 qt. buttermilk
5 c. flour
1 tbsp. salt
4 c. All Bran cereal
2 c. 40% Bran cereal
2 c. chopped dates
1 c. walnuts

Add soda to water; let cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time. Stir in buttermilk, then flour and salt. Add soda water and mix well. In a large bowl, combine cereals, dates, and nuts; add the buttermilk mix to store in covered container up to six weeks. Spoon into muffin tins without stirring. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Add any extra nuts. Soak raisins, if you use them.
