2 c. sugar
1/2 c. melted shortening
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts, optional
4 eggs
2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs with sugar. Blend in melted chocolate and shortening. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder Add to mixture. Add vanilla and nuts and mix well. Chill dough for about 1 hour. Shape into balls and roll in powdered sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove before they look done for a moist chewy cookie. Makes 4 dozen.
