LOW FAT TURKEY CHILI
1 lb. lean ground turkey
1 sm. onion, chopped
1 (10 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
4 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. ground pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. paprika
1/2 c. oatmeal (blended)

Cook ground turkey and onion over medium-high heat about 10 minutes until done. Stir frequently to break up meat. Drain. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, pepper, salt, cumin and paprika. Bring to boiling.

Blend oatmeal in the blender to a coarse flour consistency. Add to the boiling chili. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Makes 4-6 servings. (May use chicken.)

Low Fat Turkey Chili

This recipe is really easy to make! I made it because I am trying to cook low fat which it is if you use lean ground turkey. Additionally, I omitted the salt and oatmeal. I increased the seasons a little. I also added a 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes and a can of red kidney beans and a can of pinto beans and let the chili simmer on the stove for about 40 minutes and it really came out flavorful! My kids who aren't trying to eat "healthy" (lowfat, no salt) ate this very happily with a little bit of shredded cheese over the top.
