OLD FASHIONED ICEBOX COOKIES | |
1 lb. butter 1 c. white sugar 1 c. brown sugar 3 eggs 4 1/2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. cloves 1/4 tsp. nutmeg Pinch of salt 1 c. nuts 1 tsp. baking soda (baking) 1 tbsp. hot water Cream butter and sugar. Add well beaten eggs. Sift flour and spices together. Add to sugar and egg mixture. Add soda dissolved in the hot water. Add nuts. Chill. Form in rolls on waxed paper. Wrap and store in freezer until needed. Slice thin. Bake at 400 degrees 8 to 10 minutes on greased cookie sheet. Will keep for months in freezer. |
