RED AND GREEN ICEBOX COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening and 1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 beaten eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 sm. jar red maraschino cherries, drained
1 sm. jar green cherries
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening and butter. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Add flour, baking powder and salt, cut drained cherries quite fine. Add along with nuts. Make into rolls. Wrap in wax paper or foil. Chill well or freeze and bake later. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Do not overbake.
