3 c. sifted plain flour, measure after sifting 3 c. sugar 1/2 pt. sour cream 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 c. butter 6 eggs, separated 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring 1 tsp. lemon flavoring Sift flour and measure out desired amount; add soda and sift again. Set aside. Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Start adding flour and sour cream alternating to butter mixture. In a different bowl, beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into batter, taking care not to stir too much or too hard. Pour mixture into large greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 300°F for 1 1/2 hours. DO NOT open oven door while cake is baking. |
