SEVEN LAYER SALAD 
3 c. lettuce, finely chopped
1/2 c. purple onion, chopped
1 bag frozen green peas, thawed & drained on towel
1 green pepper, chopped
1/2 c. celery
1 can sliced water chestnuts (optional)
1 1/2 pts. Hellmann's mayonnaise
2 tbsp. Parmesan cheese
1 lb. bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1 very large glass bowl

In glass bowl layer first 6 items. Cover top of salad with mayonnaise. Sprinkle the cheese and sugar. Cover with lid or Saran Wrap; sealing edges tightly. Refrigerate at least 12 hours. Before serving, top with bacon.
