PEANUT BLOSSOMS 
1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. peanut butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (9 oz.) pkg. unwrapped milk chocolate kisses
Granulated sugar

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Assemble ingredients. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl; set aside. Cream shortening and peanut butter in a medium bowl; gradually add sugar and brown sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Blend well.

Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture. Blend thoroughly. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until cracked and lightly browned. Remove from oven and immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie, pressing down so that the cookie cracks around edges. Carefully remove from cookie sheet and cool on wire rack until kiss is set, about 2 hours. 4 dozen cookies.
