GRANDMA'S BANANA CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening

2 eggs
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1 c. crushed bananas
1/3 c. sour milk plus 1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nuts (chopped)
2 c. flour

Beat until well blended. Pour into greased loaf pan and bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes until toothpick test comes out clean and cake springs back when pressed.

BROWN SUGAR ICING:

4 tbsp. brown sugar
1 little butter
3 tbsp. plain or evaporated milk

Let come to boil. Remove from stove and let cool slightly; then thicken with powdered sugar until it will spread well.
