TEXAS HASH 
2 lg. onions, chopped
2 green peppers, cut fine
3 tbsp. Spry or other fat
1 lb. hamburger
2 c. canned tomatoes
1/2 c. uncooked rice
1 tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Cook onions and green pepper in fat until onions are yellow. Add hamburger and fry until mixture falls apart. Add tomatoes, rice and seasonings and mix. Put in large greased casserole. Cover and bake in a moderate 375 degree oven for 45 minutes or until done. Serves 8.

VARIATIONS:

Instead of rice, use 1 cup of uncooked spaghetti or macaroni or noodles.

Substitute 1 cup chopped celery stalks and leaves or green pepper.

Use 1 teaspoon paprika for chili powder.
