CABBAGE LASAGNA 
1 medium head cabbage
1 1/2 to 2 c. rice
2 lbs. hamburger meat
1 lg. onion
1 garlic clove
1 sm. can tomato paste
1 sm. can tomato sauce with equal amounts of water
1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes
Salt and pepper to taste

Wash, shred, and steam cabbage in salted water, about 5 minutes. Drain. Cook rice according to directions. Brown hamburger with onion and garlic. Drain. Add tomato paste, sauce, equal amount of water, and whole tomatoes. Season to taste. Simmer about 10 minutes.

Place drained cabbage in a greased 9 x 13 inch casserole dish. Layer rice on cabbage. Pour meat mixture over rice. Top with shredded cheese, if desired. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes.
