OREO TRUFFLES
1 pkg Oreos (1 lb 2oz)
1 8 oz block Cream Cheese
Meltable white chocolate wafers (from a Michael's or A.C. Moore craft-type store)

1. Blend Oreos to dust in blender, 7-8 at a time works best.

2. Cut cream cheese into 8 blocks.

3. Mix Oreo dust and cream cheese (KitchenAid mixer or similar works best) until a firm pasty dough-like consistency. 4. Roll into dime-sized balls (hands will get messy!) and place on wax paper on cookie trays. The mixture should make around 120-140 balls, depending on size.

5. Chill balls in fridge for 2-3 hours.

6. I melt the white chocolate wafers in microwave per directions on bag in a small coffee cup. I stab a ball with a toothpick and dip into melted white chocolate to coat and place back on wax paper. Once finished coating chill in fridge again and keep chilled until serving. I remove all the toothpicks before serving.

There are probably more efficient ways to coat the balls with the white chocolate, that's just my method above. I have to add wafers and melt periodically throughout the coating process. If the balls start to come off the toothpicks while dipping, chill them again. I usually have 3 cookie trays going so 2 can stay chilled while I'm dipping the 1. I use red and green vanilla flavored chocolate for the holidays.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

This is a great recipe! We make them small to look like Easter eggs and use colored white chocolate. We also call them "white Trash Truffles"!

We put a little dark chocolate on top to make them look scrumptious!

My friends family uses this recipe but they use chocolate chocolate chips and they use mint oreos. i made them last year for the 1st time after i tried theirs.. they are so yummy.. and so easy to make... thanks for saying that you use a toothpick.. what a great idea.. better than using spoons to coat them all. ;)

This is a great recipe. One thing I did differently was to use a melon ball maker to make the balls. They all turned out the same size and nice and round. Your hands don't get messy this way. We also drizzled chocolate lines on the balls after the white chocolate set using a ziploc bag for decorating. Very pretty.

During Christmas we make these with dark chocolate and call them "Reindeer Poop"...LOL. I heard a hint that a tablespoon of shortening in the melted chocolate helps make it smoother...I'm going to try that this year

My son Brett and I found that if you wear a pair of disposable latex gloves to roll the Oreo and cream cheese mixture they make nicer balls, and your hands don't get messy :)

This is a GREAT recipe! I had this at a pot luck Halloween party. My cousin's girlfriend brought them. She did not use white chocolate, though. She used milk chocolate. They did not last very long. I had to come on to cooks.com to find the recipe because she did not tell us what the cream cheese/Oreo ratio should be.

I am going to be making these in a day or two. I think I will use dark chocolate to dip them in though. Also, I think I will sprinkle a little bit of sea salt on the tops of some of them before they harden, just to have a bit of a salty/sweet thing going on.

Sounds great! I'm wondering if they can be made ahead and how to store them. 😊️
