GRAHAM BREAD (BROWN BREAD) | |
1 egg 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. shortening 2 c. sour milk 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. white flour 2 c. graham flour 1 c. raisins cooked in 1/2 c. water not drained can add 1 c. chopped nut meats Combine shortening, egg and sugar. Dissolve soda in sour milk and add to above. Add white and graham flour, raisins and nut meats. Put in 2, 5 x 9 bread pans. Bake first 20 minutes at 325 degrees, and then 40 minutes at 350 degrees. This is my Mothers recipe. She will be 90 years old May, 30. And is still baking it, plus she bakes white bread, 8 loaves at a time. Also she bakes cookies to have on hand for the great- grandchildren. She is Frances Brannan - Mantorville. |
