1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. molasses
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. milk

Cream shortening. Add sugar slowly beating continually. Add beaten egg and molasses. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, soda and spices together. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Mix well. Bake in greased shallow pan at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.
