GOLDEN CAKE BREAD | |
1 pkg. yeast 1/4 c. warm water 1 c. hot scalded milk 1/2 c. butter 4 to 4 1/2 c. flour 1/2 c. sugar 2 beaten eggs (save 1 tbsp.) 2 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. salt Soften yeast in water. Combine milk, butter and sugar; cool. Stir in eggs, vanilla, salt and yeast. Add flour, beat well after each addition. Cover and rise in warm place until double (about 1 hour). Beat down; let rise until double, about 3/4 hour. Form into pans (2). Rise in warm place for 3/4 hour. Brush with egg. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. |
