DATE NUT SPICE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. milk
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter and sugar; add 1 egg at a time, beating each in thoroughly. Sift flour, baking powder and spices together and alternately with milk, saving enough flour to separate dates and nuts. Add dates and nuts last. Bake in 2 (8") cake pans about 30 minutes at 375 degrees.
