HOME EC CLASS - PARTY CHIFFON
CAKE
 
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Wesson oil
7 unbeaten egg yolks
3/4 c. cold water
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. egg whites (7 or 8)

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Sift first 4 ingredients together into mixing bowl. Make a well in center and add Wesson, egg yolks, water and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Add cream of tartar to egg whites in a large mixing bowl. Beat until forms VERY STIFF peaks. Pour egg yolk mixture gradually over egg whites. Fold in gently. Pour immediately into ungreased 10 x 4 inch tube pan.
