FIG COOKIES 
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. mashed fig preserves
1 c. chopped pecans

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Add vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. Blend in flour and soda, and fold in figs and pecans. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown.
