ASTA'S ROD KAAL OR DANISH RED
CABBAGE
 
1 head red cabbage
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. grape jam or jelly
1/2 c. white vinegar
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. water

Shred cabbage. Add all ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer about 2 hours. Taste and add more vinegar or sugar as needed. Serve warm. Freezes well.

A Danish tradition on holidays. Also served at room temperature with cold cuts.
