SAUERKRAUT AND APPLES 
1 (15 oz.) can sauerkraut, drained
1/2 med. onion (if using a Vidalia, use whole one), sliced
2 tbsp. butter
1 red or green cooking apple (Granny Smith), peeled, sliced thick
2 tsp. brown sugar

Drain kraut, saute onions in butter. Add onion and apple slices, saute. Add kraut and brown sugar and simmer 15 minutes.
