SAUERKRAUT WITH APPLES | |
1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut 2 tbsp. butter or bacon drippings 1 red or green cooking apple 1/2 onion, sliced 1 c. brown sugar, packed 1/2 tsp. caraway or celery seeds Drain kraut; saute onion slices in butter. Quarter and core apples and cut into thin slices. Add to onions and saute 1 to 2 minutes longer. Add kraut and brown sugar, gently mixing with wooden spoon. Cover and simmer 20 to 30 minutes over low heat. |
