BEEF STROGANOFF 
1 1/2 pounds sirloin or round steak
1 clove garlic
2 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 bay leaf
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup dry red or white wine (optional)
2/3 cup (4-ounce can) mushroom slices, drained
1 cup commercial sour cream

Rub steak with garlic. Combine flour, salt and pepper; pound mixture into steak. Cut meat into 1 1/2 x 1-inch strips. Melt butter in skillet; add meat and brown on all sides. Add onion and continue cooking until onions are transparent. Add remaining ingredients except the sour cream; simmer 45 minutes, or until meat is tender. Add sour cream just before serving and simmer only until cream is heated. Serve over rice or noodles.
