DILL PICKLES 
Soak 100 cucumbers overnight in cold water. Next morning dry and prick each cucumber 2 or 3 times with a darning needle.

PLACE IN EACH JAR:

1 slice yellow onion
1 or 2 garlic buds
1 or 2 red pepper, dry
1/8 tsp. alum

Pack cucumbers in jars. Add fresh dill. Boil 4 quarts of water, then add 1 quart vinegar, and 1 cup salt (bag kind). Cover pickles with the liquid and seal. Pickles are ready in about 6 weeks.
