FLAT APPLE PIE 
CRUST:

2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg yolk and enough milk to make 2/3 c. liquid

Blend the above. Make 2 equal parts; roll out 1 part on bottom of cookie sheet. Take corn flakes, crushed; sprinkle 3 or 4 handfuls on bottom crust. Spread 8 to 10 cups sliced apples mixed with 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Dot with butter.

Roll out second ball. Put on top of apples, slice crust. Beat 1 egg white and 1 teaspoon sugar until foamy; spread on top of crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Frost with a white powdered sugar icing.
