GOLDEN CORN BREAD 
1 c. yellow corn meal
1 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 c. milk
1/4 c. soft shortening

Sift together dry ingredients. Add egg, milk and shortening. Beat until smooth. Do not overbeat. Bake in greased 8-inch square pan or greased muffin pan at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
