SCOTTISH-OAT SCONES
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/4 c. oatmeal
1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. butter, melted
1/3 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. raisins or currants

Combine dry ingredients. Add melted butter, milk and egg. Mix just until dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in raisins. Shape dough to form ball. The dough is soft, and hard to make into a ball, so flour a bread board and pat the dough to about an 8-inch circle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the circle into 8-12 wedges, depending on desired size.

Bake the wedges on a greased cookie sheet at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes, or until light golden brown. Serve with butter, jam, or honey.
