STRAWBERRY DUMPLING PIE
1 pt. strawberries, mashed
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 stick butter

Can use frozen strawberries with enough water to thaw. If fresh berries are used, add about 1/4 cup water.

BATTER:

2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. milk (work into a batter)

Combine strawberries, sugar and butter and cook until it starts to boil. Combine all batter ingredients and work into a batter. Dip spoon into hot berries, then dip up a spoonful of the batter, placing it back down into the hot berries, letting the juice boil up around the batter. Repeat the process until all batter is used. Remove from heat and let stand. Cool and serve.

Note: Any fresh fruit in season can be used or other frozen fruits, if desire.
