GUM DROP CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Gumdrops, cut up
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Pinch of salt
2 c. flour
1 c. raisins
2 c. flour

To start: Cook raisins in water until tender. Beat shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla.

In another bowl, mix dry ingredients. Add to shortening mixture and beat until smooth. Add raisins and remaining liquid and gumdrops. Bake at 325 degrees in a 9x13 inch pan until a toothpick in the middle comes out clean, approximately 20 minutes.
