BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening (I prefer Crisco)
About 3/4 c. buttermilk

Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until well mixed. Add milk, stirring quickly into soft dough. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut and bake in hot oven at 450 degrees for 12 minutes. Makes about 12 to 15 biscuits.
