OATMEAL SQUARES | |
2 c. oats (Quick or other) 1 c. flour 3/4 c. butter, melted 1/3 c. brown sugar 1/3 c. chopped nuts 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 10-12 oz. fruit preserves (any flavor, no sugar types great!) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 11 x 7 inch baking dish (glass/ceramic). Combine all ingredients except preserves; mix well. Reserve 2/3 cup oats mixture. Press remaining mixture to bottom of baking dish. Bake 10 minutes. Remove baking dish. Spread preserves evenly over partially baked base to within 1/2 inch of edges of dish. Sprinkle with remaining oats mixture. Bake 20 minutes until brown. Allow to cool before cutting into bars. Store tightly. Kids love them! |
