CRY BABY COOKIES 
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. seedless raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tbsp. baking soda
1/2 c. strong coffee
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix together sugar, molasses, vegetable shortening, seedless raisins, and chopped nuts. Add soda dissolved in strong hot coffee. Sift together flour, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. Add to liquid mix. Drop by small teaspoonfuls at least an inch apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in a moderately hot 375 degree oven about 15 minutes. Cool 5 minutes, then remove with spatula from tins.
