6 to 8 Winesap apples 1/2 c. water 4 tbsp. bacon drippings 2/3 c. sugar Core and slice 1/2 inch slices. Add 1/2 cup water to apples and cook in covered frying pan until almost tender. Remove lid and let the water evaporate. Add bacon drippings and sugar to apples. Fry to deep golden brown and candied. Turn frequently while browning. |
