EASY CHOCOLATE CHERRY TORTE 
1 pkg. 2 layer size Devil's Food cake
1/2 c. butter
7 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/3 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling, chilled

Grease lightly and flour 2 (9 x 1 1/2 inch) round cake pans. Prepare cake mix batter according to package directions. Turn batter into pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes on wire racks. Remove from pans. Cool thoroughly.

FROSTING: In medium bowl beat butter until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in half the powdered sugar beating until smooth, add milk and vanilla. Add remaining sugar. Beat in additional milk, if necessary.

To Assemble: Place 1 cake on a tray using 3/4 cup frosting. Use 2 tablespoons frosting to circle top layer. Spread 1/2 of cherry mix. Place 2nd layer cake on top. Frost top and sides. Add remaining cherries. Let stand at room temperature for 20 minutes.
