BLOND NUT SQUARES 
1/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. butter, softened
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. semi - sweet chocolate morsels

Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add the egg and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in chopped pecans and chocolate morsels. Spread batter in a lightly greased 12 x 7 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool and cut into 1 1/2 inch squares. Yields about 3 dozen.
