OLD FASHIONED BEEF STEW 
2 lbs. stew meat, cut into 1" cubes
6 lg. carrots, cut up
3 lg. potatoes, cut up
1 lg. onion, diced
1 sm. can tomato sauce
Salt & black pepper to taste

Roll beef in flour, salt and pepper. Brown in skillet with shortening. Put browned beef in large pot with three quarts water. Cook one hour. Add vegetables. Cook until meat is tender, stirring occasionally. Add tomato sauce.
