OLD FASHIONED APPLE DUMPLINGS
2 c. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. shortening
2/3 - 3/4 c. milk

Combine above ingredients to make dough - using enough milk to make a soft dough. Divide into 2 balls. Roll each in a nice round circle. Place sliced, pared apples over dough to within 1 inch of the edge. Roll into two long strips to fit a 13x9 pan.

TOPPING:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar (light)
2 c. water

Combine sugar and water, mixing well and pour over dumplings. Bake at 350 degrees until brown and apples are tender. You can brush top with butter and cinnamon to taste. Also place thin lemon slices over top while baking.
