MAPLE APPLE CRISP 
1 lb. (2 very large) tart cooking apples
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 tbsp. maple syrup
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. light brown sugar
4 tbsp. butter

Core apples, cut into 3/4 inch slices. Toss with lemon juice. Place apples in lightly greased 9 inch pie plate. Drizzle syrup even over apples. In small bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar; cut in butter with fork. Distribute evenly over apples.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes until juices are bubbling and topping is crisp. Good with vanilla or coffee ice cream.
