COLD WATER CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1/2 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 c. cold water 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 3 1/2 tbsp. cocoa 2 tsp. vanilla Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs. Stir well. Add cold water; stir; and add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 9"x13" pan; bake at 350 degrees 30 to 40 minutes. Frost with white boiled frosting. (Boil white sugar and cream to a soft boil (232 degrees) stage; cool until cold and stir until it has the consistency of powdered sugar frosting.) This cake is best if frosted and left to set overnight; it absorbs the moisture from the cream. |
