BEAN CHOWDER 
3/4 c. dried beans
3 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. diced potatoes
1 sm. onion, chopped
3/4 c. canned tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp. flour
1/2 c. shredded green pepper
1-2 tsp. butter
1 1/2 c. milk

Wash beans. Add water and boil 2 minutes. Let soak 1 hour. Add salt and cook until nearly done. Add potatoes and onion. Then cook 30 minutes. More water may be needed. Mix flour with a little of the tomatoes and add to beans. Add rest of tomatoes, green pepper, and butter. Cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in milk and reheat quickly.
